God has the power to push back
darkness.
He is our Sun and Shield, Light of the World,
our Bright Morning Star.
But first the walls might close in, allowing
what we love to grow dim, darkness to tempt us
to deny hope.
In this moment, guard your tongue,
your heart. Find power. Speak truth, even in solitude.
There are times when we feel PRESSURE. When we are fearful enough to fear our inner resources might fail us; that we might cave to the lies that breed in dark. This is the time to plunge deep into the heart of God who is WITH YOU ALWAYS and is the same God who HEARD JONAH’S CRY when the walls very much did close in and the Hope that was within him was the only real hope he had; and it was ENOUGH to see him through to the other side! In these moments, it helps to be schooled in the spiritual practice of SOLITUDE, to know how to turn to God in these troubled moments, as a force of holy habit.
Solitude is one of the spiritual disciplines I reflect on in my latest book, Longings of the Soul, a poetic response. For more POETRY FOR THE SOUL, visit my Author Page on Amazon.
