A Clear Night Finds Me

photo of moon on a dark sky

In a season of finding less

than what I was looking for—

the sliver of a moon crest rather than

a full yellow harvest, hangs poised

in the night sky, a lonely reminder

over the back of my shoulder,

of the beauty of this season that

finds me taking, leaving behind

confident, if smaller and

smaller steps

in retreating darkness, believing

morning will come with

its shared sense of having suffered

through time spent waiting,

walking…

and it will be glorious,

this fellowship,

nonetheless.

Poetry is one of those wonder-filled ways we connect with our inner life, and seek to bring it more and more into the light of God’s goodness and grace towards us. You can support my work along these lines at https://www.buymeacoffee.com/daynamazzuca
